A strong push from local officials in Yvelines is accelerating the project to build a new stadium for Paris Saint-Germain in Poissy. The club's leadership now faces a historic dilemma between staying loyal to the Parc des Princes and embracing the promises of an ultra-modern ground.
An 80,000-Seat Stadium And An Arena Pitched On The Stellantis Site
Local officials are stepping up their efforts regarding PSG‘s proposed 80,000-seat new stadium in Poissy. Pierre Bédier, president of the Yvelines Departmental Council, Cécile Zammit-Popescu, president of Grand Paris Seine & Oise, and Sandrine Berno Dos Santos, mayor of Poissy, sent a joint letter to Victoriano Melero, chief executive officer of Paris Saint-Germain. The project they back features the construction of an 80,000-seat ground alongside a 20,000-seat arena on former industrial land owned by carmaker Stellantis.
This push relies on solid geographic and economic arguments to win over the PSG hierarchy. The designated plot sits less than 5 kilometres from the Campus PSG, opened in 2023 in Poissy. The elected officials pointed to the club’s historic roots in the department, while also pledging to secure 2,000 jobs through the complex.
The Massy Option And Warming Talks Over The Parc des Princes
Staying in the capital remains an active option for Parisian leaders. Dialogue has warmed up with Paris City Hall since the election of Emmanuel Grégoire. The sale of the Parc des Princes is once again a possibility. Talks remain complex, however, when it comes to financing and designing the expansion of the ground at the Porte de Saint-Cloud.
The bid from Massy represents the 3rd avenue explored by Paris Saint-Germain. This regional option carries political uncertainty for the club, though. Mayor Nicolas Samsoen will consult local residents through a local referendum if the site in Essonne is ultimately selected.
A Crucial Verdict Looms For Nasser Al-Khelaïfi Under Fan Scrutiny
The decision timeline accelerates this month. Paris Saint-Germain will hear the Poissy pitch on October 13, 2026. The club will then examine Massy and the Parc des Princes on October 16, 2026. According to L’Équipe, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is targeting a final verdict by early November 2026.
The ultimate choice will shape the club’s future, aiming for a delivery around 2035 for a brand-new or fully renovated ground. At the Parc des Princes, everyone understands what is at stake for the Rouge et Bleu faithful, who remain deeply attached to the capital’s iconic stands. Crucial negotiations over the coming weeks will decisively shape the future of the Parisian home.
